Today’s announcement follows last month’s news that Virgin Australia will commence flying the Darwin-Alice springs sector.
Northern Territory Airports, the operator of Darwin and Alice Springs airports, has welcomed Virgin Australia’s announcement that the airline will link the two regions with new services from next year.Virgin Australia will begin flying between Darwin and Alice Springs three times a week from late March 2015, presenting new business and leisure opportunities. The new services will coincide with the opening of Virgin Australia’s new lounge in Darwin’s expanded terminal.
Alice Springs Airport (ASA) is testing its emergency response in today’s emergency field exercise. The exercise, which will begin late this afternoon, will feature a simulated aircraft crash that results in a fuel spill and a fire.An Aerodrome Emergency Plan and Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requirement, field excercises are conducted to ensure that the airport and agencies such as Airport Aviation Rescue Fire Fighters Services (ARFFS) are prepared in the event of a real emergency.
Alice Springs Airport (ASA) achieved 12.9% passenger growth during FY14, with 644,242 passengers passing through its doors. This was up from the 570,799 passenger movements recorded in the previous year. ASA General Manager Dave Batic said the results were significant for the airport and for the region as a whole.
The operator of Darwin International, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek Airports, Airport Development Group (ADG) today announced the appointment of Barry Coulter as a Director of the company’s board.Chairman Chris Barlow said Mr Coulter’s long association with business and industry in the Territory means he will bring a wealth of experience to the role.
